Getting Started
We did this in class.  you know, the money thing.  If you were gone, you know what they say:  Miss school, miss out!!  Actually, the question was:  Would  you take a job, beginning at a dollar a day, if your salary doubled every week?  Or, would you rather have a job where you started at $10 and got a $5 raise every week.  Gather data for 10 weeks, using this data sheet.  Calculate your salary each week.  Plot the points on  the xy coordinate plane.  Compare the graphs.  Now which job would you rather have?

If you are not sure about plotting points, check the book, page xxx, or  you can ask Dr. Math.
You can also see a step by step construction of a graph here.
Click here and you can get a tutorial on functions.

Now, GET ON THE NET, BABY!!!

Final
YOU are going to create a Power Point presentation with your findings (for Power Point help, click here).  In this presentation will be charts YOU created using Excel.  I would also suggest putting up some nice graphics, sounds, etc.  Humor is always good, but keep it CLEAN!  If you are not sure about how to use Excel click here for an online tutorial.  Make some observations about trends in the visiting patterns of the sites.  Is it exponential or linear?  Or neither?  What will the number be on the 50th day?  the 100th day?  You will email your presentation to me (tomalley@wunif.k12.ca.us) on the due date.

Day 22  Selected Presentations
Presenting all would be a tremendous amount of time.  I will select a few for presentation to the class.  Extra credit will be awarded to those that I have selected.  There is a sample presentation if you click here.  When you open it, hit F5 to start the show.  Move from slide to slide using the space bar.

You will take this post-test at the completion of this activity.
