Student Activities

Students will begin by reading the Greek creation myths, introducing Zeus, and his family of Gods.  After each story students will write notes describing the characters/characteristics of the Greek Gods, as well as the themes present within these creation myths.  Students will then continue with the reading of stories involving Greek heroes, with some introduction to the Greek tragedies and comedies.

Enabling Activity

Students will begin by watching a video of Jason and the Argonauts, in order to create immediate interest for most students.  Discussion will follow regarding what can be learned about Greek ideals and beliefs from having watched this movie, and how this might also be done after reading the various myths.  Following the discussion, students will take pre-test about Greek myths, values, and relation to modern entertainment forms.

Culminating Activity

Students will take test online, to include both written and multiple choice answers.
