Introduction
In this lesson, students will assess their vocational interests and gather information on occupations consistent with their interests.  Students will then analyze the appropriateness of  those occupations to their interests.  Finally, students will explore (1) community agencies which may help them achieve their tentative career goal; and (2) local employment market trends.

3.  Students will evaluate the appropriateness of researched occupationas to themselves.

4.  Students will analyze local job market trends.

5.  Students will identify agency(ies) which may appropriately serve them in reaching their post-high school goals.

Student Activities 

Introductory Activity
Students will take the Interest Survey, form A, from Choices California 2001 (144 questions) on their classroom computer.  Based upon results of the suvey, students will identify their 3 top career interest areas.  Students will take pre-test regarding community agencies and local job market trends.

Enabling Activity(ies)
Students will choose one career interest area from Choices.  Within that interest area, students will choose at least 2 possible career goals and print out Choices information on those occupations.  Students will complete Occupation Analysis activity for chosen occupations and determine if these occupations realistically represent possible career goals for themselves. 

Culminating Activity
Via the internet, students will research local agencies providing post-high school support to disabled individuals.  Using provided graphs and charts, students will analyze local job market trends.  Post-test will be administered.
