Introduction
In this lesson the students will explore the various types of figurative language used in poetry and prose.  They will learn to identify idioms, analogies, similes and metaphors.

Instructional Objectives
  1. After viewing examples of idioms the students will identify 70% of the idioms that were presented to them and provide a brief explanation in their own words.
  2. After reading various poems and short stories students will identify similes and metaphors with 70% accuracy.
  3. Students will write    ??   using examples of idioms, analogies, similes and metaphors.
