Introduction

Students will be introduced to technology that will aide them in building professional presentations via a power point tutorial.  They will then pick a topic of their own or use one of mine, research it, type a five page document and then present it as a power point presentation.

Instructional Objectives
  • After completing tutorials 1,2,3,10, and 11 , students will complete tutorials 
  • Students will complete tutorial 4,5,6,7, and 9.
  • Students will complete tutorial 8,12, and 13.
  • Students will research technology trends from a predetermined list or make their own selection with teacher approval.
  • After completing tutorials 1-13, students will present a power point presentation using all the components reviewed in the tutorials. 
  • After completing their research students will be able to describe in detail at least one area:

  • Students will research the affects of technology in the home.
  1. After viewing an animation of continental movement on a laser disk, students will be able to arrange the fit of the continents with continental puzzle pieces.
  2. After analyzing information from an Encarta CD, students will be able to compare the distribution of fossils, rock types and ancient climatic zones on different continents as evidence for plate tectonics by fitting puzzle pieces marked by these special features.
  3. Students will be able to draw a diagram of the earth’s layers.
  4. After collecting information from The Earth CD, students will be able to locate earthquakes, volcanoes and mid ocean ridges as evidence for plate tectonics.
  5. After viewing a laser disc geology chapter, students will be able to pass a true/false quiz on lithospheric plates and layers of the earth.
  6. Students will be able to identify the major geologic events that result from plate motions in a Power Point multimedia presentation.
  7. Students will be able to present their findings on the sixth grade plate tectonics and Earth’s structure standards in a Power Point multimedia presentation to an audience of peers and adults, including the World Geologic Society.
  8. Students will be able to write, edit and revise their findings on the sixth grade plate tectonics and Earth’s structure standards using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Student Activities

Introductory Activity
Students will view a Power Point presentation detailing the requirement of their assignment.

Enabling Activity(ies)
Students will complete the tutorials in class under teacher supervision and guidance.

Culminating Activity

 Students will research an area in technology of interest to them using the internet, library or any other legitimate source.  Once the student completes their research, they are to complete a five page word processed term paper.  After completing the term paper they are to construct a power point presentation illustrating the lessons in their tutorials and will be required to present in class.
