Assessment

Each student will receive a map of the United States of America with all the states numbered from one to fifty.    The student will be responsible for matching the correct  state with the correct name.    Depending on your student's knowledge and spelling skills, I recommend also giving them a  list of all the 50 United States.

In the second  assessment, the student will be given two lists:  states and capitals.  The student matches the state with the correct capital.

The same assessments will be given at the beginning and end of the lesson.  Growth will be determined by the improvement in growth between the first test and the second test.  The goal is for all students to be able to match 40 of the 50 state names with the geographical location. On the state/capital matching activity,  the student will be able to match 40 of 50 states and capitals..
