Introduction

Students enrolled in the speech program for articulation remediation for the /r/ sound can benefit from articulation based drills derived from appropriate fifth grade level social studies curriculum.

Activities include /r/ phoneme production at the initial, medial, and final positions of words derived from the fifth grade social studies text.

Tasks for increased vocabulary and comprehension skills are included.

Standards Addressed

Fifth grade

1.0 Word Analysis, Fluency, and Systematic Vocabulary Development

Students use their knowledge of word origins and word
