Introduction
Algebra 1 Standards is a new class in our district.  It is designed to be a 2 year course that covers the material in Algebra 1 plus a unit of basic geometry. This course will fulfill the Algebra requirement for graduation and is worth 20 credits.  After completing this course, students must take a minimum of one (1) college-prep (A-F requirement) mathematics course.  The target audience is  students who are "algebra ready" but need additional time to comprehend the curriculum.

     Subject: Algebra 1 Standards

Topic: Linear graphing and solving for the x and y intercepts

     Grade Level: 9-12 (hopefully 9th!!!!)

     Student Lesson name and URL:

Standards Addressed

Algebra 1: Standard 6.0:
Students graph a linear equation and compute the x and y intercepts.  Students graph quadratic functions and know that the roots are the x Intercepts.

Student Activities
Insert brief summaries of your introductory, enabling, and culminating activities. Insert links to online resources in your text and insert links to activities on your student lesson web site.
Introductory Activity
Student introductory activities will be reviews of previous knowledge of graphing points (ordered pairs) and substitution.  Students will be reviewing in pairs or trios so that they can assist each other. Students will review vocabulary, complete in and out charts, and isolate or solve for a given  variable in a linear equation
