What is a multi-media project?

Welcome to Through the Eyes of an Artist.This lesson has been designed especially for students in the seventh or eighth grade.  You will create a 3-5 minute presentation of an artist' biography and artwork as you practice skills in the subject areas of  Art, Language Arts, and Technology. 

Writing a biography means that you will research and write about  the important aspects of another person's life. This lesson ask that you study the life and artwork of an artist and create a multi-media biography to share with your peers. 

A Multi-media project  means more than one media. For instance, combine your computer skills, word processing skills and creative talents to  create a Kidpix Slideshow , Hyperstudio Stack or PowerPoint presentation.  If you don't have the necessary tech skills contact your tech teacher  or click on the e-mail link at the bottom; I will be happy to help you. 

Have fun  as you explore the life and work of artist such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Monet, Seurat and Twentieth Century artist Thomas Kinkade, Bev Doolittle, Anne Geddes or Ansel Adams. 
 

Your Mission
• Follow each link to work your way through the lesson. You will find several Internet Sites to explore and use in your research. 
• Take notes as you collect information. Be sure to write all the information you use in your own words.
• Use a dictionary to look up words that are confusing or new to you because this will help put  information in your own words.
• Books are a valuable resource. Check your library!
• Gather information about the  artist' style, his or her influence on others, the elements of art which stand out in the artist' work and information about the artist' personal life. 

Imagine yourself as the class expert on one of the Masters of Art ! Gather interesting information about one artist and put it into a slideshow to be shared with your classmates. You will enjoy this project because there is so much to learn and you will look so smart with those flashy presentations!
