Introduction
Students will be guided through  readings,discussions and activities to have understanding of the California Gold Rush era and the three main
routes used to the Gold Fields.

     and the routes they traveled (e.g., James Beckwourth,
     Jedediah Smith, John C. Fremont, Juan Cabril.
 

 3 .Discuss immigration and migration to California
     between 1850 and 1900, including the diverse
     composition of those who came; the countries of origin
     and their relative locations; and conflicts and accords
     among the diverse groups (e.g., the 1882 Chinese
     Exclusion Act).

Instructional Objectives
#  Students will identify coordiantes to determine historical
    sites pertaining to the Gold Rush in California.

#  Students will study the various routes used to get to the
    Gold Fields of California and create a map of their chosen
     route.

#  Students will learn to search for information on the internet and       process the information for a writing assignment and verification of
    routes.

#  Students will create a visual of their chosen route on a research
    poster and add limited text.

#  Students will learn to create a letter in the first person.
