Introduction
Students will read Big Grunt and the Little Egg by Tomie  dePaola and create new endings to his story. The students will read about the author on a website and email the new endings to the author.

Instructional Objectives

-After reading, the students will describe 2 connections about the cause and effect relationships in the story to a partner.
-The class will collaboratively brainstorm and then students will individually invent the ending of the story using student's own ideas or ideas from brainstorming.
-Students will use familiar website to use links to read about author on website.
-Students will use class email address to send author stories.

Introductory Activity
I will read aloud The Little Grunt and the Big Egg  by Tomie De Paola. 

Pretest

Enabling Activity
The class will discuss cause and effect in the story. Students will fill out worksheet with a friend demonstrating knowledge of cause and effect.

Culminating Activity
Students will design their own endings, with a partner, to the story using their knowledge of cause and effect. We will send our stories to Tomie dePaola.
