Introduction
In  this lesson students will discover the life cycle of a butterfly

  1. After viewing photographs of the different stages of an butterfly's life cycle student will know that a butterfly produces butterflies. 
  2. Students will be able to match pictures of different life stages to the written titles and show order they occur.
  3.  
  4. Students will be able to identify the major geologic events that result from plate motions in a Power Point multimedia presentation.
  5. Students will be able to present their findings on the sixth grade plate tectonics and Earth’s structure standards in a Power Point multimedia presentation to an audience of peers and adults, including the World Geologic Society.
  6. Students will be able to write, edit and revise their findings on the sixth grade plate tectonics and Earth’s structure standards using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Student Activities
Students will observe butterflies.  They will learn to identify the different stages of the life cycle of a butterfly.  They will work in cooperative groups to create a large poster displaying the different stages of the life cycle of a butterfly.St.nsert brief summaries of your introductory, enabling, and culminating activities. Insert links to online resources in your text and insert links to activities on your student lesson web site.
Introductory Activity
Group discussion using the KWL chart  model.
 

Enabling Activity(ies)
1.  Students will observe the life cycle of a butterfly..
2.  Students will view photographs of the different stages in a butterfly's life cycle.
3.  Students will view a video of the life cycle of the butterfly.
4.  Students will print  pages to color of the stages of the life cycle of the butterfly.
5.  Students will color the stages of the life cycle and paste them in order on a poster board and label each stage.

Culminating Activity
1.  Students will work together in their teams to present their posters of the life cycle of the butterfly.
