They will read about the animal and take notes about the animal.  They will write six original sentences about the animals from their notes.  As a culminating activity they will design a poster to report what they have learned.  Lastly, they will take a post test.

    • The teacher will show the students how to go to the Lycos Encyclopedia of Animals web site and find the article on their selected animal.

    Enabling Activity
Students will read about their animal. They will take notes about the animal.  Then they will write six original sentences restating the facts they have learned.  They will edit these for punctuation and have the teacher check them.

    Culminating Activity
The student will design a poster to report what they have learned about their animals.  They will use a 12x18 inch piece of construction paper.  The facts will be written as a frame around the outside.  The inside will have a color picture of the animal and a title.  Student will take the post test on their animal.
