African-American Poetry Project

Welcome
Now you are familiar with some great poems written by African-Americans; I hope you have enjoyed reading these works. We are going to dig in a little deeper, using the internet, to make these poems and the poets come alive.

Your Mission
At the end of this unit you will have a 4 page project focused on one poem, by an African-American poet of your choice.  You will have more knowledge of poetry,  and literary devices;  you will also have increased skill in researching, writing, and how to correctly reference sources of information.  Check out the description of the project below, and follow the steps on the Activities link to success.
 

Final Project Requirements:

Page 1:  The poem of your choice arranged aestetically on a page with an image that represents the meaning of the poem, and also a theme from Raisin in the Sun.

Page 2:  One page interpretation of the poem & the image. This includes an explanation or justification for you choice of image. 

Page 3: One page biography of your poet with correct MLA referencing.

Page 4. Works Cited- correctly formatted according to MLA style.
