         #1.  After reading page 310-312 in the seventh grade social studies textbook, Across theCenturies,students will be able to trace the path of the black plague from Asia to the
Mediterranean and then north through Europe, and select the correct description ofthis path on a multiple choice quiz.
          #2.  After reading page 310-315 in the seventh grade social studies textbook, Across theCenturies, students will be able to show knowledge of three conditions, famine, plague, 
and wars which weakened the economy of Western Europe in the late medieval era-
(1300's) by  writing a paragraph in response to a question on this topic.
           #3.  After visiting directed sites on the internet, students will answer fill in questions on a teacher made worksheet covering various topics about the Black Death and its effect onEuropean Civilization.

Student Activities
Introductory Activity
Students will discuss what they already know about the black plague which took place in Europe in the 14th through the 17th centuries and take a pre-test.

Enabling Activity(ies)
Students will partner read page 310-312 in their seventh grade social studies textbook, Across the Centuries, paying special attention to the map on page 311, and tracing the path of the plague through Europe. Each partner will also concentrate on conditions such as famine and war which weakened the economy of Western Europe and were a direct result of the black plague. Students will write a summary of the information on these pages.

Culminating Activity
In the computer lab, students will visit the Insecta Inspecta World web site atww.insecta.com/about;index.html. Students will answer questions on a worksheet as they work through this site.

Assessment
Students will take a post -test of multiple choice questions.

Result
After working through textbook and web page lessons students will pass the post-test with at least 80% mastery.
