Introduction
This project has been designed to lead students through the processes of a research project. Upon completion, each student will have isolated a topic, located print, electronic, and online materials. Information from each of these formats will be used to write a report which then be orally presented.

c. Include evidence compiled through the formal research process (e.g., use of ,  dictionaries, encyclopedias, OPAC, books, and electronic sources).
d. Document reference sources by means of footnotes and a bibliography.

Student Activities
Insert brief summaries of your introductory, enabling, and culminating activities. Insert links to online resources in your text and insert links to activities on your student lesson web site.
 
  • Given a list of possible topics for a research project, students will do a review of preliminary resources (textbook, encyclopedia, world wide web, etc.) to select a topic of personal interest. 
  • Student will complete a basic graphic organizer on the topic to create an outline for their report.
  • Using the OPAC, students will list 5 print sources which may be useful in gathering information related to their topic. 
  • Student will view appropriate, available CDROM programs to make notes on some aspect their topic. 
  • Student will list of twenty terms related to the topic and write definitions.
  • Students will be able to reproduce images related to their topic in an online presentation.
  • Students will be able to write, edit and revise a five to seven page report using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.

  • Students will be able to present their findings on their topic in a Power Point multimedia presentation to an audience of peers.

    Introductory Activity

    This will be a collaborative unit with the subject-area teacher. Part of the introduction will begin in the classroom as the teacher does a general unit overview. The students will begin the library portion an introduction to library organization.
