Introduction
The students will be placed in groups of 4 to research one of the following influential Americans:  Ben Franklin, George Washington, Susan B. Anthony, Abraham Lincoln or Harriet Tubman.  They will use information from the internet to put together a museum display.  There will be a day to "visit the museums" to share what they have learned. They will also write a letter to the person they are studying and explain why they admire him/her.

2.  Students will analyze information and decide which information is important to present in their museum.
3.  They will gain knowledge that will later be turned into artifacts, timelines, letters, maps, etc... for the museum.
4.  The students will present their information to the class in the form of a museum.

Student Activities

Introductory Activity
The students will be put into groups of 4.  Each group will select one of the five famous people they would like to research.  They will explore the pre-selected websites and understand how they will be used for the project.  The students will also receive information about the museum, so they know what type of information they need to look for.  A pre-assessment will be given to check for prior knowledge of these Americans.

Enabling Activity(ies)
The students will use the pre-selected web sites to research their famous American.  Each group member will be responsible for two items for the museum.  They will have a group folder where information will be kept and organized.

The students will make a display of the information, which will be displayed in the class museum.  Each group wil take a turn presenting their display.  There will be a post assessment to check for retained information.
