IIn every area of life there are different levels of activity or performance.  You can choose to participate at the best level by preparing yourself with the needed knowledge and skills.  In land and air travel, there are big  variations in how you can arrive at your destination.  Your future will be determined by preparation through classes and experience.  This lesson will help you to plan for participation for the coming year

Instructional Objectives
     The students will be able to:
           1) Describe10 different personal development and leadership activities 
               available to them as students in Agriculture Science.
           2) Select three activities and place them on the planning calendar for the 
                school year that they will participate in.
           3) Begin and complete the  Calendar of Activitites for the school year in the 
               Agriculture Record Book.
           4) Write a plan for a supervised occupational experience program
               for the coming year using a sample provided.
           5) Do a career exploration project using Eureka and Microsoft Word.
           6) Make an oral presentation of their career selection to the class.
 


Student Activities
     Students will take a pre-test, complete assigned activities, and take a post-test. 

Introductory activity:
Students will take the pre-test and will then go the web page to do their activities as assigned.  Class activity in individual and team cooperation will be completed and a report on their experience(s) will be written. 

Enabling Activity(ies):
Activity 1) Students will go to the student Web page to follow links which will enable them to explore and get descriptions of 12 students activities/awards programs available to them through FFA and Leadership Events/Competition.
They will work in teams of 2 students develop a Power Point presentation which will illustrate one of the activities/competitions with 6 or more slides and commentary.
Activity 2). Students will interview an advanced student about their activities and include a portion of that interview within their Power Point Presentation.
Activity 3). Students will receive instruction in preparing a Calendar and Plan for the year and complete one for themselves. 
Activity 4). Students will complete the Career Survey in the Eureka Program and select a field to research and a job Title for which they will learn the personal and preparatory steps they need to complete in order to qualify for it.

Culminating Activity: Students will present their Power Point Presentation to the class. They will also do an oral presentation of their Career Field findings and relate how their activity choices should help them to achieve thier goals.
