Students will explore different web sites in order define interests, abilities, and aptitudes for different careers. The students will do a collection of activities that will help develop career goals and set a path leading to those goals. Cross curricular activities will be used to help the student examine different possibilities and then create evidence of work in career portfolio. The student will also do a multimedia presentation of the Career Portfolio. Assignments are part of the requirements for graduation. Subject: Career Portfolio California Draft Business Education Standards 1.0 BUSINESS CORE 1.1.Business Communications (C): Students will understand communications as applied to personal and professional situations. They will demonstrate competency by selecting and using appropriate forms of communications in a variety of situations. 1.1.1.Diversity

Career development is an ongoing process through which learners integrate their personal, family, school, work, and community experiences to facilitate career and lifestyle choices.

Work
experience provides students with opportunities to participate in a variety
of workplace situations to help prepare them for the transition to a work
environment. Work experience will also provide students with opportunities
to:
Students will embark on a learning adventure that will help them set career goals and plan for the future. Students will print a copy of the graduation requirements for the Yuba County Career Preparatory Charter School. Students will then do a self assessment. Students will journey through the "My future?" adventure at their grade level. The students will need to use web- based resources to complete the activities. Each activity is designed to formulate and explore future goals or help complete a careers proficiency graduation requirement. Culminating Activity Students will prepare and give a 10 minute multimedia presentation illustrating their career exploration and goal setting activities before a panel of community members and educators. They will have a well-designed career portfolio ready to show prospective employers.
