This activity allows students to become a Muckraker by designing a persuasive poster or developing a persuasive essay that critiques the political, social, economic conditions of the United States in the early 1900’s. Subject: United States History 11.2 Students analyze the
relationship among the rise of industrialization, in terms of:
1. Students will be able to define the word, “Muckraker”. 2. Students will be able to name 5 Muckrakers. For each Muckraker, the student will be able to list their book/article and explain what that book/article was about. 3. Given various resources, each student will describe the political,social, and economic conditions of the early 1900’s. 4. Using the resource information, students will create a visual or written project. 5. Students will critique the persuasiveness of the projects produced by their fellow class mates.) Insert brief summaries of your introductory, enabling, and culminating activities. Insert links to online resources in your text and insert links to activities on your student lesson web site. Introductory Activity Show the power point presentation which covers the first two instructional objectives.
