Introduction
The scientific method is a process used by scientists to construct an accurate representation of  the natural world.  It can be used by anyone to solve a problem or explain a natural phenomenon so that others can duplicate the research and reach the same conclusions.  The scientific method consists of a set of formalized, logical steps which help guide the researcher to a reproducible conclusion.  The scientific method should result in a conclusion which is reliable, consistent, and non-arbitary.

Individual bias based on personal and cultural beliefs can color the researcher's perceptions and interpretations of natural phenomena.  The scientific method attempts to limit the influence of experimentor bias when testing a hypothesis or theory.

Instructional Objectives
Insert your learning objectives here. For example:

  1. After completing the lesson,  students  will be able to list the seven steps of the scientific method in order from first to last.
  2. Students  will be able to define the  "terms to know".
  3. Students will be able to apply the scientific method to a simple problem provided by the instructor.
  4. Students will be able to access the internet and find and list addresses for three(3) sites covering the scientific method.
  5. Students will be able to name the seven(7) steps normally found in the scientific method.
  6.
Student Activities
Insert brief summaries of your introductory, enabling, and culminating activities. Insert links to online resources in your text and insert links to activities on your student lesson web site.
Introductory Activity
Students will be introduced to the "terms to know" by a power point presentation and a handout.
The "terms to know" include:  Application , Conclusion, Control, Data, Experiment, Hypothesis, Law, Theory, and Variable. Enabling Activity(ies)
Activity 1---Open and read  web site  about the Scientific Menthod
Activity 2---Observe and describe a natural phenomenon.
Activity 3---Internet treasure hunt--The Scientific Method. Culminating Activity
Using the Scientific Method, solve a problem provided by the instructor. Assessment

Results
After implementing your lesson (sometime between January & March), insert a chart of your pre-test, post-test, and culminating assessment data.
